Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc.(AAHGS) Charlotte Chapter is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, charitable organization. Contributions to AAHGS are tax deductible. We depend upon the generous support of our members and friends to fulfill our mission.
Your donation will also help to ensure sustainability and further our goals, to increase the number of persons conducting scientific research and documentation of African American History and Genealogy. To expand, share and teach scientific research to our next generations and documentation of their family history.
You may also make an anonymous donation. Per your request, we will not publish your name in the list of donors; and will only be shared with the board of directors.
You can also dedicate your contribution to someone – an ancestor, or perhaps someone who introduced you to genealogy.
Note: All contributors can be assured that we will not share your name with any other organizations seeking donations.

Arrange for Matching Gift
Many employers offer to match all or a portion of a contribution you make to AAHGS. Check with your personnel office to see if your employer will match your gift with an additional gift to AAHGS.
Donate during a fundraising campaign
Throughout the year there are opportunities to contribute something extra to help fund AAHGS programs and activities.
Membership Renewal-Membership dues alone are not adequate to sustain our chapter activities. During our membership period, September-December, please consider including an additional contribution with your annual dues payment.
Annual Appeal-Each year in December AAHGS conducts an Annual Appeal to solicit contributions from members and friends in the community. The holiday season provides many opportunities to make a donation to AAHGS-like ”Giving Tuesday,” the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
Volunteer your time and expertise for a special project, governance, training and support in a role of interest. Please see our Volunteer section on our website for various projects and committees.
