Mission / Purpose
Our Mission
The Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc. (AAHGS) is a nonprofit organization that strives to preserve African ancestor family history, genealogy, and
cultural diversity by teaching research techniques and disseminating information throughout the community. (www.aahgs.org)
Our Goals
Our primary goals are to promote scholarly research, provide resources for historical and genealogical studies, create a network of persons with similar interests, and assist members in documenting their histories.
We work, in collaboration with other genealogy organizations, professional historians, genealogist and related individuals, to accomplish these goals through our bi-monthly meetings, and our workshops and conferences.
We strive to engage and assist as many individuals in our community as possible, to increase the research and documentation of African American History and genealogy. We are intentional about sharing, fellowship with each other, having fun, growing and learning together.
